YOU SHOULD NOT BE ALLERGY TESTED TODAY IF YOU HAVE BEEN ON ANY OF THESE FOR THE LAST 1 WEEK:

(you will test negative even if you have allergy!)


  1. Oral Antihistamines: Allegra (Fexofenadine), Claritin (Loratadine), Zyrtec (Ceterazine), Xysol, Clarinex or any of the above with a “D” in it.
  2. Benadryl (diphenhydramine), Tylenol/Advil PM, any “Night time” allergy or cold medicine with diphendydramine in it
  3. Nasal Antihistamines: Astelin (Azelastine), Patanase, Dymista…
  4. Ophthalmologic Antihistamines: Optivar, Patanol, Naphcom, Pataday, Pazeo…
  5. Tri-cyclic Antidepressant Drugs: Elavil (Amitriptyline) , Amoxapine, Anafranil (Clomimpramine), doxepin, nortriptyline, Limbitrol (Chlordiazepoxide/amitriptyline), Tofranil (Imipramine), Vivactil (Protripyline) …IF YOU ARE NOT SURE, ASK YOUR DOCTOR
  6. Beta Blockers for high blood pressure: Atenolol, Labetalol, etc...

THESE DRUGS SHOULD BE STOPPED (WITH YOUR DOCTORS PERMISSION ONLY)

1 WEEK PRIOR TO ALLERGY TESTING

 


 

 THE FOLLOWING DRUGS ARE ALLOWED UP TO 24 HOURS BEFORE TESTING


  1. Steroid (prednisone, etc) at moderate/low doses
  2. Leukotriene modifiers: Singular, etc
  3. Inhaled B2 Agonists: ProAir, Ventolin, etc.
  4. Inhaled (Symbicort, Pulmicort) and Nasal (Flonase/Fluticasone, Nasonex, Rhinocort, etc)
